Heading for Triathlon Glory

Well, i'm going to do it.... Yes, the dreaded Triathlon!!!

Ian and i were out with some friends last week for Dine out Vancouver and we got to talking about setting fitness goals. I'm in no way a fitness freak, i can sit on the couch eating bags of popcorn and cans of club soda all week but I have been talking about it for a while and i really need to kick start my fitness back into shape. Don't think i'm not in some sort of shape, i did ride my road bike from Seattle to Portland last summer and i have run (not raced...do you think i'm crazy) in 3 half-marathons. I've got the will power to do it, what i don't have is the will power to do it well.

So i've decided that i'm going to sign up for the "My First Triathlon" it's a super easy first timers kick at the can, so to speak. It's a 400m swim (yes that's only 10 lenghts of the pool) and a 20km bike (i've done 322kms so this should be easy) and a 5km run (just warming up....right) The problem is i've never done those things all together before! The triathlon is held in Harrison for 4 weekends in August so just pick your day, pay your $75.00 and go.

There's a catch!! Of course there is, are you kidding.....My deal is i want to do this on my own or with someone who's basically in the same fitness shape as me, boys not allowed. You see my wonderful boyfriend Ian is WAY better at lots of things. I can do a lot of things better than him but fitness is not one of them, you see Ian is a Lifeguard, and grew up on a lake (swimming not an issue), a road and mountain biking warrier (again not an issue) and he kicked my ass by 45mins in the half marathon last year. SO he's not allowed to sign up, just along for the ride as a spectator and to support for me!

So i thought i would start this blog back up again and walk you through all the pains and gains i make along the way. Plus it helps me be more focused on the end result and see the progress i've made. Don't worry it won't all be about the Triathlon, a lot other crazy stuff happens to me so i'll be sure to post all that crap too.

Here's the stats: (scary but true)

Weight - 142 lbs
Body Fat - 30.5%
Height - 5'-5"

Days on the road bike since the Seattle to Portland ride (July 08) - 0
Current days at the gym in 2009 - 0/27 days
Last time in the pool or lake - does Mexico with a beer count....??

Wish me luck :)

You go girl! We should start up our lunch time walks soon. I'm all for supporting you - maybe I can be a running buddy?

I like how you put the stats. Very honest, yet encouraging for others. Can't wait to see how it unfolds!
